BitLocker is a full disk encryption feature in Microsoft Windows operating systems that encrypts data on a hard disk or other storage device. It is designed to protect data from unauthorized access, theft, or tampering.

To enable BitLocker, follow these steps:

  1. log in to your Windows device with an administrator account (you may need to log out and log back in to switch between accounts).
  2. In the search box on the taskbar, type Manage BitLocker, and then select the option from the list of results. Or, select Start > Settings > Privacy and Security > Device Encryption > BitLocker Drive Encryption.
  1. Click Enable BitLocker next to the drive you want to encrypt. If the drive does not appear, it may not be BitLocker-enabled.
  2. Select how you want to store your recovery key in case you forget the password or the device becomes inaccessible. You can save the recovery key to your Microsoft account, to a file, or to a USB drive.
  3. Click "Next" to continue.
  4. Select how you want to encrypt the drive. You can choose between "Quick" or "Full". If you select "Fast", only the unused space on the drive will be encrypted. If you choose "Full", the entire drive will be encrypted, which may take some time depending on the size of the drive.
  5. Enter a password to encrypt the drive. Make sure you choose a strong password and keep it in a safe place. If you do not enter a password, the drive will be decrypted by logging into Windows.
  6. Click "Next" to continue.
  7. check your settings and click "Start" to start the encryption.
  8. the encryption of the drive will start. The duration depends on the size of the drive. Depending on the drive, the system may need to be restarted for encryption.
