The Rocktab U212 and U214 rugged tablets support hot-swap, which means the tablet does not need to be turned off to replace the main battery.

To support hot-swap, there is a backup battery inside the tablet that is charged together with the main battery. This battery cannot be removed and requires sufficient power to hot swap the main battery.

When the backup battery is fully charged, the tablet can provide up to 5 minutes of runtime for hot swapping the main battery.

Attention

Charge the built-in backup battery every two months to maintain the health of the battery and avoid potential problems due to battery over-discharge.

Follow these steps to hot-swap the main battery:

  1. Turn on the tablet, open HotTab to check the charge level of the backup battery.
  2. If the backup battery charge level is "Low", please charge the tablet with AC power until the backup battery charge level is "Medium" or "High".
  3. When the backup battery charge level is "Medium" or "High", you can remove the main battery.
  4. Insert a new, fully charged battery into the battery compartment.
  5. Open HotTab to check the level of the main battery. If the battery level is displayed incorrectly, check that the new removable battery is inserted correctly.
  6. If the battery level is displayed correctly, you can continue using the tablet.
