Basic troubleshooting

Here are helpful hints to follow before taking further action when a problem occurs:

  • Try to figure out which part of the computer is causing the problem.
  • Make sure you turn on all peripherals before you turn on the computer.
  • If an external device has a problem, make sure the cable connections are correct and secure.
  • Make sure the configuration information in the BIOS setup program is set correctly.
  • Make sure all device drivers are installed correctly.

Take notes on your observations. Are there any messages on the screen? Do any indicators light up? Do you hear any beeps? Detailed descriptions are useful for service personnel if you need to ask them for help.

If the problem persists after following the instructions in this chapter, contact an authorized dealer for assistance.
